Early Experiments, 2019–2020
In 2019–2020, I was experimenting with pretty much everything.
Stones, silver, gold plating, textures. Carving forms into cuttlefish bone and casting them, shaping wax wires, sculpting wax, bending metal, setting stones and trying engraving. There was also a little walnut box, made as a study of hinges and mechanisms using a natural shell.
These were some of my earliest pieces. A lot of it was simply trying things and seeing what happened.
During that time, I met Tessa, who had just arrived in Florence. She agreed to photograph my work, creating still-life arrangements with objects she found around the workshop.
These photographs are the result.
